You may experience a hair detox for the first few weeks if you've been using conventional hair care with silicone derivatives. Your hair may feel knottier and dryer than usual during the detox phase. After years of being coated with synthetics, the hair may take some time to detox. The Miessence shampoo probably won't foam for you until you eliminate the plastic coating on your hair from past hair care products. Don't give up before having tried organic shampoo for a month or until you have finished the bottle. Once these silicone derivatives have been dissolved you will find the Miessence shampoo will foam easily and your hair will be silky soft. This can be done slowly over time just by using Miessence shampoo alone or sped along by a) creating a "hair mask" (one of our Miessence masks mixed with Miessence shampoo), b) using the Miessence Clarifying Rinse or c) using plain baking soda mixed with Miessence Shampoo. Before you know it your hair will be luxuriously soft, shiny and organically beautiful!

Love this product. My hair definitely felt like a bird’s nest while washing for the first couple weeks while it detoxed. But, the results were so worth sticking it out through that awkward stage. Prior to switching to this shampoo, the woman who washes my hair before a hair cut would usually say, “Well, you have some build up.” First time I saw her after switching to Miessence, she says, without my even asking her, “Did you just wash your hair? It’s SO clean!” I told her it had been 3 days. What a difference!
I especially love the shampoo – I am neurotic with taking showers, partly because my hair tends to get oily often. I showered with the lemon myrtle shampoo and WHAT A DIFFERENCE – my hair is not oily at all!
The first five washes were very unusual. My hair did not lather and it was very dry and notty afterwards (I have long hair). But, I noticed it was getting lighter, fuller and more luminescent. I looked at the products online and discovered what was happening was normal, my hair was ‘detoxifying’ from years of using drugstore shampoo’s and the buildup of silicon on my hair. Now after a month of washing it with miessence shampoo-I cannot go back. I do not have to use as much, and it coats all 23 inches of my hair. Not only that, this is the healthiest my hair has been since I was 12 years old.
